Changed both filters in the def tank. Replaced the doser unit. Replaced both nox sensors. Truck still in derate with light flashing. Any advice? Thinking may have some wiring issues?

The shop diagnosed the truck with a bad particulate sensor. The sensor was replaced and the code did not come back. The and codes however would not clear, and the engine was in derate mode. Below you can see the conditions for clearing the code:. Conditions for Clearing the Fault Code This fault code will go inactive once all other active fault codes have been addressed.Nissan juke code
Refer to the appropriate fault code troubleshooting tree. A regen and SCR test was performed post repair.
All of the temps looked perfect and it passed all of the tests. The and still would not go away, there were absolutely no other codes.
I have experienced this before, my simple minded explanation is that the codes are latched and there is a software issue. I decided to reflash the computer to the latest calibration. The codes were gone and everything was back to normal. If a reflash was not available, I would have still flashed the computer like an install and that would probably have the same effect.
None of the calibrations cited this as an issue, so it was just a matter of uninstalling and reinstalling software, just like a PC or phone. I hope this helps someone out someday. Matthew based on my experience after running the scr test the codes should go from active to inactive after an extended idle for a minute or two once it goes inactive then you can clear the codes.
The scr test has to pass of course. I also have had one where i reflashed the ecm with the same cal file and it fixed it. It seems like the software gets corrupted and wont budge on a code clear. That's interesting, thanks for sharing. Sometimes I have had the same issue. Most of the time though after I have the vehicle up to operating temp I clear all the codes and it goes away.
I can't recall code number. But on some larger Cummins you have to go in and preform a dpf reset. Then you are able to clear code. Which you pretty much did reset when it was reflashed. My Journey is down again and again because of the DEF.
First time miles crushed hose and bad filter. Second time miles bad DEF from a Pilot by Lazydays new filter, pump and draining lines not paid for under warranty. Now again a bad sensor but not sure, well at least that is what the code says. With only miles. Stuck in Las Cruces NM. And having trouble getting into a Cummins shop or a Frieghtliner shop.
Could you also post how much DEF you have used. Have no clue to your driving habits, but the DEF systems like to run hot. So slow stop and go traffic can cause issues with the system. School buses drivers in our area need to remember to run in the lower gears to maintain a higher temperature in the exhaust when stopping frequently. I am trying to find out the year of the engine.
It is a hp on a Freightliner. When I first bought the unit I was told to fill up every time that I put in fuel. My toad says not to go over 65 ,so I find my sweet spot to be around 61 to 62 at rpm. I have let it idle but I raise the idea to rpm which helps with bring in the slide outs. This last time I was going through El Paso at 60 mph and when I was on the other side kick it up to Now I have to drive back to El Paso with the hopes that it won't quit on me.
Hate to hear of your trouble. After that all has been good. I feel I could also have more peace of mind without the def on mine.
Cummins should cover any towing required for the first year you own the coach. The information is in the document. There is a lot off disinformation out there! I called Cummins in Amarillo and asked, "is it OK for me to drive the coach in? Or do I need a tow? Prior to that, I was told that my engine would shut down and it would require a Cummins Tech to come and start the engine!

Also, no damage. So much hype from Govt agency's, Dealers and experts! New update: 8 hours of tech working on the DEF system. No faults in the system at the shop. Have to go back tomorrow at 7am.P engine code seems a kind of powertrain problem, we try to show one by one the meaning and the solution. Brief explanation of the P code and definition of P is the bottom side.
SAE - Generic codes, which have a '0' as their second digit to indicate they are common to all makes and models of vehicles.
These are the codes that are required for basic emissions fault diagnosis. There are currently two main types of cylinder deactivation used today, depending on the type of engine. P code for the pushrod design which uses solenoids to alter the oil pressure delivered to the lifters. In their collapsed state, the lifters are unable to elevate their companion pushrods under the valve rocker arms, resulting in valves that cannot be actuated and remain closed. The catalytic converter has an oxygen sensor in front and behind it.
When the vehicle is warm and running in closed loop mode, the upstream oxygen sensor waveform reading should fluctuate. When you see P engine fault code on your engine code reader this description will help you.
Final Step: In the definitions listed below, there is a test drive recommended after you've completed any repairs to see if the condition is fixed. Before you take a test drive after a repair, always erase the P Code s first. This will turn the check engine light off and then you will know if the check engine light returns, you've got further diagnostics to complete.

Brief explanation of the P code and definition of P is the bottom side. SAE - Generic codes, which have a '0' as their second digit to indicate they are common to all makes and models of vehicles. These are the codes that are required for basic emissions fault diagnosis. Like the all engines, the car engine system employs specially developed hydraulic lifters known as switching roller followers for the P code intake and exhaust valves.Add recaptcha to divi form
The lifters can be collapsed by disengaging an internal locking pin. The locking pin is disengaged using solenoids to alter oil pressure fed into the lifter. The oxygen 02 sensors on your car measure the oxygen in the exhaust to determine how rich or lean the ratio of fuel and air are in the cylinders.
Optimizing this mixture means better fuel economy and fewer exhaust emissions. When you see P engine fault code on your engine code reader this description will help you. I keep getting fault code in my ISX. I've had it in the shop 3 times and keep getting it. Does anybody know what causes it or how to fix it? Can someone get me a fault decription, didn't have enough time to look it up on my Was messing with tarps I'll check back at next stop. HvyHauler7 do you have a description of the fault. My interweb search is turning up nil and I'm not at home to reference my Cummins materials.
With a number that high. It definitely pertains to After treatment parameters that came out on the cm Ok this fault is because your doser has reached the limit of adjustment and the mechanical system is not responding. So you have a problem in the doser or a skewed NOx sensor, an exhaust leak, contaminated def or def tank empty but still showing full, or the ECM needs a calibration update.
With out insite connected and running a few test I can't help you any further than that. You must log in or register to reply here. Latest posts.
